The humane society, the Animal Rescue Committee of Slave Lake and the Second Chance Animal Rescue Society have together rescued about 250 animals from the emptied northern Alberta town, Randolph said.

The Animal Rescue Committee of Slave Lake held its latest adoption day and it led to six animals finding forever homes. Committee chairperson Dennise McIntyre says that two out of the six animals were cats and the other four were dogs.
